Before you throw anything away, really think about it. For example, if you’ve finished burning a candle that comes in a big glass jar, don’t waste it. Instead, drain out the leftover wax and use it as storage. This is called “upcycling.” Upcycling is “the process of converting waste materials or useless products into new materials or products of better quality or for better environmental value.”
And it’s not just for people who love arts and crafts. These ideas are worth trying (and will make your home a whole lot cooler).

There’s a tiny island in Japan that is so full of cuteness, if I saw it in person I wouldn’t be able to handle it. It’s known as Rabbit Island, and that is because it’s literally full of nothing but rabbits. (Surprise!) Rabbit Island, a.k.a., Okunoshima, was used as the secret base for the Japanese Imperial Army’s lethal gas operation during World War Two. You wouldn’t even guess it now, though, because the only reason people know this island is for the bunnies.
Lots and lots of bunnies.

Now that so many people own smartphones and DSLRs, everyone thinks they are a photographer. It’s so easy to take high quality photos. Love knows no boundaries – not age, race, religion or gender. In his “All Love Is Equal” photo series, New York-based photographer Braden Summers set out to drive this point home by taking stunning photographs of gay and lesbian couples around the world.
Summers, who identifies himself as gay, traveled to France, India, Lebanon, Brazil, South Africa, the U.S. and the U.K. to take photographs for his Kickstarter-funded project (which has raised over $23K). It took Summers about six weeks to create these dramatic and romantic scenes depicting only gay and lesbian couples. He mentioned that models were used to underscore the images’ impression of a perfect romance.

In his new “Spring-Autumn” series, Asian photographer Qozop addresses the role of clothing in our society through a clever and playful juxtaposition of two generations. The following message was posted on the New York City Craigslist. The person that wrote the message adopted a rescued pit bull that was at a kill shelter in the city. Her previous owners were evicted from their building and the dog, who was covered in cigarette burns, was taken to the shelter. Luckily, she was saved before being euthanized. 3 years after adopting this beautiful girl, her new owners have a few things to say to the terrible people her left her out on the street. This is what their Craiglist posting said:
“On Feb 9th 2011, you were evicted from an apartment at 20 Catherine St and your old red pit bull was seized by animal control and taken to the kill shelter. “
These two adorable and unlikely animal friends, Penny the chicken and Roo the two-legged Chihuahua, met each other through Alicia Williams, who works at Duluth Animal Hospital in the U.S. She saved both animals from almost certain death.
